⚓ Mayor’s Cup Regatta 2026

Browns Creek Sailing Association is proud to host the Mayor’s Cup Regatta and invites sailors of all classes to compete in this annual event. Racing will take place in the waters of City Harbor on Lake Guntersville, Alabama, as part of our continued effort to promote and grow the sport of sailing in the region.

📅 Event Schedule

Friday, May 29, 2026 

Location: Browns Creek Sailing Association clubhouse (100 Browns Creek Rd. Guntersville AL, 35976)

  • 17:00 – Cook House Food truck Opens
  • 17:30 – Registration Opens
  • 18:30 – Registration Closes
  • 19:00 – Skippers Meeting at BCSA Club House
  • Welcome packets and pre-ordered t-shirts available for pickup

Saturday, May 30, 2026 – Race Day

Location: City Harbor (Paddle Wheel Dr, Guntersville, AL 35976)

  • 10:00 – Warning Signal (Dinghy & Keelboat Classes) – City Harbor race area
  • 13:00 – Warning Signal (Youth Class) – City Harbor race area
  • 16:00 – No races will begin after this time
  • 17:00 – Awards Ceremony at Levi’s on the Lake
  • 18:00 – Post-Race Social at Levi’s on the Lake (food & beverage at your own expense)

Sunday, May 31, 2026 (if needed)

  • Backup race day with the same schedule and locations as Saturday

⛵ Racing

The race will be governed by the World Sailing Racing Rules 2025–2028. The 2014 Portsmouth Yardstick Handicap System will be used, including adjustments for spinnaker and headsails.

All sailing yachts are eligible and will be handicapped accordingly.

Expected Classes:

  • Youth
  • Dinghy
  • Keelboat

Race Format:

  • Three races are scheduled
  • One race constitutes a regatta
  • No throw-outs

🍽️ Meals

  • Meals will be provided during Friday’s registration and skippers meeting by the CookHouse Food Truck.
  •  One meal is included with each race registration
  • Additional meals for crew and visitors may be purchased directly from the truck
  • Saturday Post-Race Social at Levi’s on the Lake (food & beverage at your own expense)

🏆 Awards

  • Trophies awarded to the top three finishers in each fleet
  • Overall winner (best combined performance between Dinghy & Keelboat) will have their name engraved on the perpetual Mayor’s Cup Trophy, displayed in the Mayor’s office

  • Entry Fee: $35
    • Includes Skipper Meal

  • Online Registration closes Thursday, May 28th at 22:00
  • Onsite Registration available from 17:30 to 18:30 May 29th at the Skippers Meeting
