BCSA Cruise – Rock the Lock

August 15

Event Announcement: BCSA Presents “Rock the Lock”

Date: Saturday, August 15th
Departure Time: ~9:00 AM

Ready to get locked up voluntarily? Join BCSA for Rock the Lock on Saturday, August 15th!

We’re shoving off from the marina early around 9:00 AM (yes, morning exists on weekends) and cruising down to the Guntersville Dam. If you’ve never locked through a dam before, this is your golden opportunity to figure out what all those giant concrete walls and ropes are actually for—without complete chaos!

The Itinerary:

9:00 AM: Cast off from the marina and head toward Guntersville Dam. We will wait until the lock is ready and lock through to the river. Have your life jackets on and your buoys and lines prepped and ready to go as you enter the lock. Can’t hurt to have your boat hook handy as well to keep off the wall.

Mid-Morning: Lock through down to the Tennessee River and cruise over to Paint Rock Bluff.

Lunchtime: Raft up near Paint Rock Bluff, eat lunch on the boats, and participate in an acceptable level of floating around doing absolutely nothing.

Afternoon: Cruise back through the lock and head up to the lake.

Overnight / Return: Anyone feeling adventurous can raft up and anchor out overnight at Pirate’s Cove or Honeycomb! If you need to return to adult responsibilities you can head straight back to NASM to the marina.

Whether you’re a seasoned locker or a first-timer, come join the fleet! ⚓🔒
