This is a full-day\, down-the-river\, through-the-lock\, raft-up-with-a-view kind of day. We’re talking real miles\, real scenery\, and yes—real bats. \n🗺️ THE PLAN (a.k.a. organized chaos): \n\nShove off from NASM at 0900\nLock through the Guntersville Dam like absolute champions\nSail downriver to Painted Bluff\nRaft up for lunch and scenic gawking\nReturn through the lock before dark\, or cry trying\nWatch the bats emerge from Hambrick Cave at dusk\nOptional overnight anchoring at Pirate’s Cove (BYO rum)\n\n🎨 PAINTED BLUFF\nThis 350-foot vertical cliff towers over the Tennessee River and is basically Alabama’s version of the Grand Canyon… if the Grand Canyon had prehistoric Native American rock art and zero tourists.
