Browns Creek Sailing Association maintains a fleet of small boats available at no cost to current members, including:

  • Sunfish

  • Lasers

  • Hobie Cats

  • Open Skiffs

  • Kayaks

These boats do not require a checkout procedure and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Members are expected to use all boats responsibly and return them in good condition.


Catalina 22 Rentals

$50 per day (Members Only)

BCSA also maintains four Catalina 22 sailboats available for day rental. To reserve and operate a Catalina 22, the following requirements must be met:

Rental Requirements

You must:

  • Provide proof of sailing credentials, such as:

    • ASA Learn to Sail certification

    • US Sailing Learn to Sail certification

    • Completion of the BCSA Learn to Sail class

    • Approval/sign-off by a BCSA Board Member

  • Sign a liability waiver

  • Schedule your rental in advance

Catalina 22 – Frequently Asked Questions

Are there wind or weather limits?

Yes. Catalina 22 rentals are intended for fair-weather sailing.

  • Rentals may be restricted or cancelled due to:

    • Sustained high winds

    • Thunderstorms or severe weather forecasts

    • Unsafe lake conditions

  • The BCSA Board or designee may deny or end a rental if conditions are deemed unsafe.

Safety always takes priority over scheduling.


How many people are allowed onboard?

  • Catalina 22s are limited to a maximum of 4 adults, or an equivalent combined weight.

  • The renter is responsible for ensuring all passengers understand basic safety expectations.

  • Children must comply with marina and club PFD requirements.


When must the boat be returned?

  • All Catalina 22s must be returned before dark, regardless of season.

  • Boats must also be returned by the agreed-upon time established during scheduling.

  • If weather or unforeseen issues delay your return, notify the board as soon as possible.


Are life jackets required?

  • There must be enough properly sized life jackets on board for every person on the boat.

  • Marina and club safety rules apply at all times.

  • Children must wear PFDs as required.

  • Adults are strongly encouraged to wear PFDs, especially in higher winds.


What condition should the boat be returned in?

The boat should be returned in equal or better condition than when it left.

Please:

  • Remove all personal items and trash

  • Secure sails 

  • Coil and stow lines neatly

  • Leave the boat clean and ready for the next member


What happens if something breaks or goes wrong?

  • Report any damage or issues immediately to [email protected]

  • Do not attempt major repairs unless directed

  • Renters may be responsible for damages caused by misuse or negligence
