Notice of Race

Browns Creek Sailing Association and Lake Guntersville Sailing Club is honored to host the Mayor’s Cup Regatta and would like to invite all sailors to participate in this second annual event. The regatta is being held in the area of City Harbor, Guntersville, AL. The event is a joint effort to promote the sport of sailing.

The race shall be governed by the World Sailing Rules of Racing 2021-2024. The 2014 Portsmouth Handicapping System shall be employed to handicap the event, spinnaker, and headsail adjustment factors. All sailing yachts shall be eligible for entry and shall be handicapped accordingly. The skippers’ meeting will be held on Friday at 19:00 at Levi’s On The Lake at City Harbor in Guntersville, AL. The race’s warning signal is scheduled to be made on Saturday approximately 10:00 for dinghies and keelboats and at 13:00 for the youth class, in the vicinity of City Harbor. The sailing instructions are posted on the BCSA website. Expected classes include: Youth, Dinghy, Keelboat Spinnaker, & Keelboat Non-Spinnaker.

Schedule of Races:

Three Races are scheduled, however one race will constitute a regatta. No races will be started after 16:00 on Saturday.  No throwouts. 

Schedule of Events:

Thursday May 16th: 22:00 Registration Closes (Registration Online ONLY, No in person registration available)
Friday May 17th: 17:30 Social at Levis On The Lake catered by La Esquina Cocina Mexican Eatery.
           Welcome packet and pre-ordered T-Shirts will be available for pickup.
19:00 Skippers Meeting
Saturday May 18th: 10:00 Warning Signal for 1st race for the Dinghy and Keelboat Classes
13:00 Warning Signal for 1st race for the Youth Class
16:00 No Race Begins afterward
17:30 Awards ceremony at Levi’s
18:00 Post Race Social at Levi’s (Food and Beverage at your own expense)
Sunday May 19th: Alternate Day to Race if Saturday’s weather is a bust with the same schedule. 

Trophies:

Will be awarded to the top four skippers and crew of each fleet.  The overall winner will be the skipper with best race record between the dinghies and keelboat classes.  The overall winner has his or her name put on the perpetual Mayor’s Cup Trophy which is kept in the Mayor’s office.

Fees:

Regatta Entry $30.00 – includes appetizers catered by La Esquina Cocina Mexican Eatery.

Order T-Shirts by May 5th to have it delivered to the regatta with no shipping costs from our Online Store.  There will be no T-Shirts for sale at the regatta.

Classes:

Race committee has sole discretion to move any boat to any class and to combine classes, this shall not be grounds for protest or redress.
